CEiiA organised a surf talk on ‘People, the ocean and quality of life: the science and technology that connects us for a better world’ at NorteSurfFest.

The talk was moderated by Vladimiro Cardoso Feliz and featured Liliana Mendonça (CEiiA researcher), João Guedes (big wave surfer) and Luis Pedro Almeida (COLAB +Atlântico researcher) and emphasised the importance of combining health and ocean sciences with sensing and data to improve quality of life and performance in sports such as surfing.

NorteSurfFest took place in Porto and Matosinhos between 27 and 29 September and was organised by the Portuguese Association of Surf Schools and brought together surfers, sports coaches, surf entrepreneurs, university students and the general public to discuss the main challenges (sporting, environmental, technological and others) facing surfing as a sporting, economic and social practice.
