Project:

Water2Move

Main Objective

Strengthening research, technological development, and innovation.

Overview

Water2Move aims to develop a process for producing hollow polymer foam components, specifically to replace metal alloy components. It uses a combination of injection moulding technology for polymeric foams and water injection.

Reducing the weight of the parts to be produced is the main objective, but secondary desiderata include reducing surface imperfections and the possibility of integrating embedded RFID technology. The production method (process) to be developed, which is the project's most important innovation, consists of combining the polymer foam injection moulding process with water-assisted injection technology in a single injection cycle.
