Main Objective

Aqua Concept proposes to study of feasibility, scientific and technological development of new emerging economic areas in the Atlantic Ocean.

Overview

Portugal has the highest rate of fish consumption per capita amongst the EU countries (more than double the EU average), presenting an average annual value of 56kg. However, Portugal is still a residual player in the European Aquaculture Industry, with just a few projects aiming to exploit the National Territory.

‍

Assessing the possibility of using new methods and technologies to produce fish and bivalve mollusk’s, new opportunities to increase fish production in the country and to alleviate the pressure exerted in coastal production that face competition from other economic activities.
